Born in 1939 in Switzerland. My Swiss mother is from the German side (of Switzerland) and my dad  is from Italy. I was born in Lausanne,  the French part of Switzerland. I am a product of the Second World War, blessed to be born of a mixed culture...the recipe for a good life  and a future that one day brought me to Trinidad in 1960 via England where I met my Trini husband Clyde.

We journeyed to Trinidad by boat, it took 14 days and I remember it always as if it were just yesterday.

I thank my parents who prepared me for this fascinating long journey of life to what I am today. The school system in my country was very  disciplined. One could never say "No, I won't do this". You did what you were told to try for your future as the teachers could see you talents. The winters were long and one spent many hours inside the house. Some people knitted or did other inside activities and I painted on china from the age of 12.

I also had many other hobbies: piano was forever from age 3. I played volleyball for my town of Lausanne and I received a scholarship to become a teacher in the domestic sciences.

After my husband and I came to live in Trinidad, our 3 children were born here and we were  very involved in their upbringing. I  had no time to paint again until about 20 years ago and then I was unable to find the proper china  and porcelain to paint on here. I decided to try to paint on ceramic tiles and this then became the main material I am now painting on. Sometimes I paint on china when I am able to bring in white wares from Germany.

I also enjoy making ceramic jewellery when I can break away from the tile work with which I supply several shops.

The firing agent is the key success to this art and without a kiln you cannot  have this  on-going work shop.

The results of living 51 years in our twin island state  can be seen in my work everyday, I paint just what is surrounds me, very simple. My studio and shop are here in my home on the hill in St Joseph. Please come  and visit.
