Kathleen Quill Walker

Kathleen Quill Walker has been drawing and painting from her earliest years. Whilst still at school, her prize winning paintings were selected to represent her native Ireland in an international exhibition of children's art, which was shown in the United States, Canada and Europe.

She studied oil and pastel painting and anatomical drawing at the Art Students' League in New York, Where she excelled in portraiture under the tutelage of David Leffel and Ted Seth Jacobs, both highly acclaimed portraitists.

She has attended workshops with Luise Kimme, Jackie Hinkson and Isiah Boodhoo, and more recently, was awarded a BA (Hon) Degree in English Literature by the University of the West Indies. Her thesis which she intends to publish, was an in-depth analysis of the profound influence of painting on the poetry of Derek Walcott.

Being an ancient bardic name, her maiden name 'Quill' is synonymous with music, poetry and art. For this reason she retains it as her 'Nome de plume'.

Kathleen has taken part in several art exhibitions both at home and abroad. Her paintings form part of collections in the United States, England, Ireland and Trinidad and Tobago, where she resides and is married.
