Biography

Born in Zambia of Indian Origin, Maya has studied and lived in England, Wales, Norway, Egypt, Indonesia and now Trinidad. Maya has always been interested in creative  pursuits such as Photography and Multi Media.

In 2002, Maya’s creative direction turned towards art. Maya has drawn inspiration from the natural landscape, still life and flowers of the various countries where she has had the privilege of residing. Although never having lived in India, Indian art and culture have been a wonderful source of artistic creativity and influence in her work.

Maya shows what she feels and sees through her work using vibrant, warm and vivid colours, expressing depth and character on paper and canvas. Art has come naturally to Maya who paints primarily in watercolours and oils. She has also done commissioned works. Her work is varied due to the influence of many cultures and her experience of living in different countries.

Maya believes art comes from the heart.
