Marcus Gooding
A lover of visual arts, Marcus Gooding studied Architectural Drawing and Design (ICS Dip.) and is the holder of a Bachelor of Laws Degree (Honours) from The University of London. The Artist also obtained a National Technician’s Diploma in Draughtsmanship from the John S. Donaldson Institute in Trinidad.
He started painting with oil paints at the age of thirteen, with an embryonic style based on his perceptions of the world. Over the years his style has been steadily influenced, first by his secondary school training in art and thereafter by technical training in architecture, technical drawing and design.
He grew up in Averbouke Street Diego Martin, amidst an incredible scenic beauty affectionately known as the “Valley”. His youth was flavoured with images of a beautiful Trinidad and Tobago, coming into its own.
Having never given up the passion for painting in oils, the Artist launched his website www.marcusgooding.com in 2006. In 2008 he resigned his job as a Facilities Manager to paint professionally. This has allowed the Artist to paint prolifically with a renewed sense of direction and purpose.
He believes that to paint with freshness and depth of vision, illustrates the world in a lively and meaningful way and is one approach to make an impact with visual art. The Artist mixes impasto style with the more traditional, classical methods of oil painting and endeavours to further develop his skills such that he becomes a true artisan of the craft.
