Wulf Gerstenmaier

"When the soul of a human is born three nets are cast over it to keep it from flying : nationality, language, and religion. As an artist I try to fly by the nets."
James Joyce

"Certainly, I must always have been an artist, because I tried, since my childhood, to fly past these three nets."
Wulf Gerstenmaier

At the age of twenty-six, after his graphic design and art training, Wulf opened his own design studio to manufacture vehicle accessories in southern Germany. For fifteen years he successfully made models from casts and produced accessories for motorcycles and sport cars. His clientele included famous people in the motorcycle, automobile and racing industries.
The most important design developments evolved from his practical experiences as a motorcycle racer. At twenty five he was the German motorcycle racing champion.

1991 - 1999 Wulf went abroad to search for greater inspirations. This led him to the Mediterranean in his sailing yacht and later to the Caribbean. In these years his painting intensified and he had numerous exhibitions in various countries.
In the year 2000 he settled in the Caribbean, on the island of Trinidad. There he works as a fine artist, art teacher and art conservationist (restorer).
