
Born in Trinidad in 1935, She received her early education at Bishop's Anstey High School and further education at Manchester University of Science and Technology, England, in Optics; and also attended Manchester College of Art on,a part-time basis.
Her works have been exhibited locally in several mixed exhibitions and jointly with other artists. She works mainly in a representational style depicting the way of life in Trinidad; occasionaly she works in an abstract style which fits in with her explorations into metal sculpture. She has held a one-person exhibition in 1975 at the National Museum.
During the period 1968 to 1975 de Gannes has won several awards in the area of Design- Carnival Jamboree, C.D.C. Trophy design and Stamp design to commemorate International Women's Year.
