Hyacinth Charles was born in Trinidad and grew up in Trincity. At an early age she displayed her naturally gifted artistic abilities through drawing and to a much lesser extent, painting.  She attended St. Francois Girls College where Art was a compulsory subject up to Form three.  Although she continued to study Art in Form Four she decided to drop it after a few weeks to pursue a more applicable subject to support her future career preference. Having completed her secondary school education at Queen's Royal College, she later attended the University of the West Indies where she graduated with a BSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Five years later whilst engaged in a Spanish course, she meet artist Atiba Kenyatta who inspired and encouraged her to revive the talent that lay dormant for 15 years.  In 2004, with the guidance of Mr. Kenyatta, she began her first paintings in watercolours and produced several pieces within the six months prior to leaving for England where she read for her Master's degree in Information Technology. Upon her return to Trinidad in 2006, the demands of her job inhibited her from painting as much as she would have desired but whenever she was able she would put paintbrush to paper every now and again.

A young, self-taught artist, Hyacinth's love for nature and landscapes has inspired her artwork and in particular, she has a penchant in particular for ocean view scenes or where there are bodies of water. Two hobbies which influence her outlook and appreciation of the beauty of nature are travelling and photography.
