John Borely - Sculptor

John Borely
As a child I had a real fascination for ancient Greek mythology and this grew into a love and appreciation for all that Classical Greece had to offer; its philosophy, its history, its humanist achievements and its sculpture.

I have been fiddling around with sculpting, on and off, for the last ten years but after visiting Greece two years ago, on an intensive study program with a college in Athens, I have committed to putting out a serious effort to establish myself as an artist.

Of course, because of this influence, what I express in art is through the human face and body. My wife, Albada, and I operate Beekham Borely Studios out of our Diamond Vale home.

I model in clay and present my work in plaster. Bronze copies of the pieces can be ordered but this is a lengthy process as there is no foundry here in T&T.

My phone number is (868) 637-7910. I can also be reached at johnborely@gmail.com

I have also dabbled in pastels (oil and chalk) and enjoyed illustrating a children's book my dad,Clive Borely, wrote. It was published in 2005 and is available from all leading bookstores in Trinidad and Tobago. Below are the front and back covers of the reversible hardcover book (two stories in one) featuring two stories set in the coastal environment.
